Holyland 82 (!Holy82) is released. We're always looking for an additional Japanese -> English translator to increase the translation speed and some skilled editors to help the current cleaners.

So our last release was on Quebec's "national" birthday (lol, sure...) and today our release is on America's nartional birthday. It was originally supposed to be on July 1st, Canada's birthday, because in the words of Felix DeSouza: Fuck the Yank, let 'im wait!

If you get the reference, then awesome. If you don't, relax, he's a fictional character.

So as usual, he's our usual plea for more recruits. We're looking for more Editors to increase the release speed. If we could get an additional experienced QCer to ease Kuthrow's workload, that would be ideal. Also we need a dedicated Holyland translator (jp-en). If you want to help us out, please apply on the forums or contact us on IRC.

Now, the releases.

Blame Gakuen! And So On (!Blame or !Gakuen) - This is a long time coming. I'd like to appologize to Luco, who bought & scanned this volume last summer, for taking so long to complete this volume. But finally, it's done. (Hey, oz bastard, if you're reading this, quit life and come back to scanlations. ;) ) Big thank you to illiteracy for finishing the volume. As for Sidonia... Well... I don't know when exactly I'll get to chapter, although I'll probably get to it sooner rather than later. Here's my problem, I don't have the raws for ch9+. I always assumed Luco would have them, but he didn't either and now he's MIA. So, yeah. Contact me if you have the raws.

Full Metal Panic Sigma 26 (!Sigma26) -  This chapter concludes the current arc of FMP Sigma. The next chapter of this volume is a boring flashback about how Mithril was made and stuff. But once that's done, volume 07 starts off with new characters, new stories, new action, new bust shots (Yes!!!) and much more. So hopefully it won't take us too long to get right into it.

Holyland 77-81 (!Holy77 - !Holy81) - This concludes volume 08 and starts volume 09. I hope you enjoy these chapters.

Idiot Section Chief 7-8 (!Idiot07 - !Idiot08) - Two more chapters of our second favorite gag manga.

Shonan Jun'ai Gumi 91 (!SJG91) - This is a stand-alone chapter. Next chapter begins the great Midnight Angels arc.

Today is the single worst day of the year for someone like me; someone who lives in Quebec but isn't brainwashed with the whole 'Quebec should be it's own country because we're selfish pricks and sharing something with other people is blasphemous and besides WE WERE HERE FIRST' bullshit. I'll also be starting to work on an Typesetting guide over the summer. I honestly don't like the majority of the guides out there, so I figured I'd do my own. I want to have it done for the end of July, but who knows how long it'll really take.

Full Metal Panic 25 (!Sigma25) - Newest chapter of FMP Sigma. Here's hoping we can finish volume 6 soon!

Garouden 01 (!Garou01) - A new series from us. The artist is Taniguchi Jiro, who is fucking awesome btw. This is Ruroni's project, and since he's a busy man with a new job and his first born a month ago, the releases will be sporadic.

Jackals Volume 04 (!Jack04) - The newest volume of Jackals, including chapters 24-31. Our first release of Jackals since Strays disbanded. By the way, in this volume, shit starts to get serious. If you enjoy lots of violence, lots of blood, a major plot twist or two, etc. in your manga, you're going to really enjoy v5-7.

My Street 07 (!Ms07) - Our first chapter of this in... Wow, a really long time. So yeah, ch07. Hopefully ch08 will be out sooner. .-.;;;; Thanks as usual to our joint partners in the Rabbit-Reich for their part in the joint.

Shonan Jun'ai Gumi (!SJG88 !SJG89 !SJG90) - This concludes the current arc of SJG and starts volume 11. Chapter 91 is a stand-alone chapter while chapter 92 starts one of the best arcs in the series. Just an awesome, awesome arc. So, stay tuned!

Trigun Badlands Rumble (!Trigun01 !Trigun02) - Here's the two-part Trigun oneshot from Young King Ours. We're still looking for Boichi's Trigun oneshot, which was also in Young King Ours. If you find it somewhere or can scan it, contact us and we'll do the chapter.

some of you might have noticed that we haven't released seri.. well nothing for some good 24 days.

In this particular article I wanted to talk a bit about Saru Lock and Holyland. If you care about them you WILL read it till the end. (Sounded mean? Good!)

It has come to my attention that these series have a well established fanbase so to say as they are the most downloaded from bot and DDL. Numbers go into thousands, not counting online readers.
What I want to say is - this sums up quite a crowd. I'm sure that within that many fans there are some capable of helping us out.
I.. this puzzles me to be honest, if there are guys who can help with redraws and love these series why are they choosing to agonizingly wait weeks/months for a single chapter if all it would take is some few hours from their time per week to see new chapters come out more often.
People working in this group are no different or more special than you, we are just fans who decided to do something about things we like. We have jobs, family, school/uni, other hobbies etc. we are no machines created to work on certain manga scanlations and we have no wonder pills or chinese sweatshops to get out new releases everyday.

FAQ:
Q1: Why slow releases?
A1: It's because of the excessive amounts of redraws in these series.
We have 1 guy working on SL and he's busy with university right now.
And we have 1-1.5 guys working on HL redraws.

Q2: What are redraws?
A2: Outside japanese text that we need to remove and make it look like it was never there to begin with. Here is an example: Holyland

Q3: Oh, but you need to be an artist or professional Photoshop user to do that!
A3: No you don't. I consider myself a good redrawer but my ability to draw something on a paper limits to a kindergarten level(yes, I'm that bad). Also our best redrawer(illiteracy) had a similar state, he could only create things with a mouse. Therefore you don't need to be artist, what you need to have is ability to perceive elements around redraw and how to correctly clone from those places to fill it, also some line drawing skills(brush tool).
Prior PS experience? Not really, it's just like MSPaint + clone tool(and maybe Path tool in some rare cases).

Q4: How do I start?
A4: Borrow Photoshop CS2-CS5 from a "friend", no GIMP. Then visit #cleaners channel on irc.irchighway.net link. In following channel topic you will find link to numerous tutorials and actual videos of redraws being done, it should provide you with a clear picture how things are done. There is also this guide http://www.ruinevil.com/ it is good, but don't take everything it says to be carved in stone.

Q5: How do i contact you if I think that I got what it takes?
A5: Make an application on forum (Your post will have to wait for confirmation) OR come to our irc channel and talk directly with me or GGpX.

Before the releases, here's a mini-announcement:

1) We aren't dead, so quit asking. The day we'll die is the day we'll announce it on the front page. 'Til then, even though our releases might not come out frequently, we're still alive.

2) We're lacking a lot of staff lately in just about all positions, except proofreaders. So... If you want to help increase the release speed for some projects, apply. We specifically need skilled redrawers for series like Holyland and Saru Lock. We could also use some cleaners for series like Full Metal Panic Sigma and À La Carte.

So, yeah. Apply. ;)
